Curriculum

Based on the National Curriculum, Garran Primary School offers a diverse curriculum that aims to challenge and inspire our children to develop a true love of learning. From Pre-School and Kindergarten teachers specialising in particular subjects work closely with class teachers to provide an exciting and enriching program for the children.

A diverse and comprehensive curriculum is centred on the following key learning areas:

The Garran Primary curriculum has a continued focus on the development of Literacy and Numeracy skills.  Garran Primary is proud that student performance in the National Assessment Program displays consistently high results in literacy and numeracy, when compared with other students across the ACT and Australia.  Our school continues to be a leading and high performing school in Canberra and beyond.

All classroom programs are differentiated and therefore designed to cater for the individual. The needs of gifted children are primarily met through differentiation of class programs and the Garran Primary Accelerated Learning Program..  There is also the opportunity for all students to be extended through involvement in University competitions and through involvement in extra curricular activities.

Networked computers in the classroom and the implementation of BYOD allow each child to develop ICT skills and access information.
