Learning to code is an important skill now we’re living in a digital age. It’s not just enough for children to know how to use technology, they should also know how it works too. Learning to code doesn’t just mean you can become a developer; it strengthens problem solving skills and logical thinking, and supports key academic subjects such as science, maths and technology.
Garran Primary School offers ‘Code Club’ to its students during lunchtime and in class time. Presently it is open to students from years 2 – 6. The years 2 –
5 group is using the program SCRATCH as the platform for learning to code. https://scratch.mit.edu. A Year 6 ‘Code Club’ is also offered using ‘Python’.
