We have an excellent learning culture at Garran Primary School. We strive to ensure that students are given every opportunity along their learning journey to achieve their personal best.

Teachers act as facilitators, bringing children's ideas to life, providing guidance and support, to help them achieve their potential. Different learning styles are catered for and individual needs are met through a range extension and support activities.

The school has a long tradition of excellence and enthuiastic participation in all areas of the curriculum.

Our diverse and comprehensive curriculum is centred on the eight Key Learning Areas: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities & Social Sciences, The Arts, Technologies, Health & Physical Education and Languages. Other learning areas include Debating and Public Speaking, Music and Performance, and Environmental Education.

There is a culture of continued professional learning among all Garran Primary teachers, ensuring the delivery of a broad curriculum that caters for all students. Differentiated units of work are planned to meet student needs. Through inquiry based learning students investigate aspects of their world and work collaboratively to pursue interests and passions.

Gifted and Talented students are given more complex and challenging curriculum experiences. Differentiated and individualised programs and groupings cater for students of varying ability. Mathematics is streamed across all years levels and there is the opportunity for acceleration if required. An extra class is also provided at each year level where required for Mathematics, which helps to create small groups in this Key Learning Area.

Language and Numeracy skills are important and the school is proud that the performance in all competitions is consistently of a high standard. Our mean in all areas of the NAPLAN (National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy) is well above that of the State and Nation.
